You will have seen the many events across the country today to commemorate the centenary of armistice day.

We thought we would take the opportunity of drawing your attention to a new memorial that is closer to home.

In Cumbernauld Village a memorial arbour has been constructed to complement the existing war memorial. Each of the 61 poppies on the memorial are in remembrance of the 61 men from the village that died in the war. It is well worth a visit to pay your respects and to admire the craftsmanship of this fitting tribute.

The memorial was constructed by Dullatur's John Colquhoun. Well done to John and all the other volunteers who made this happen.
